I’m still in the midst of sewing baby things and I recently received a gorgeous pack of ribbons from Think Bowtique and knew straight away that the n project would be a tag blanket. I’ve actually made two, one small and one large. But I’m sharing the itti bitti tag blanket today.
What you need:
8 x 5 inch ribbon in whatever width you choose. Mine are 38mm, a mix of widths would be great too.
1x 10 inch x 10 inch piece of fabric
1x 10 inch x 10 inch piece of minky or other soft squishy fabric. Minky is best but I can imagine a tag blanket using fleece or chenille etc. Maybe even a nice knit or jersey.
And other regular sewing supplies.
Fold your ribbon in half long ways and then sandwich them in between the pieces of fabric and minky which are RIGHT sides together. Make sure the ribbons are pointing inwards and that the folded edges is in the inside of the fabric sandwich.
Sewing around the edges making sure to leave a gap for turning.
Clip the corners and turn right sides out.
Press to get out the wrinkles from turning and sew the opening closed as well as top stitches around all four edges.
And ta dah! You’re done and have a nice little itti bitti tag blanket for a new baby.
