Today we are excited to have a special guest poster here at And Sew We Craft. Our guest poster is Emma and you might recognise her from a few of the reader tutorials we have shared here at ASWC.
Hi, my name is Emma and I blog over at How to Crochet a Heart.

Last September I made myself a bicycle seat, and since it was such an easy project, I thought I would write out the pattern to share. I have made it with elastic, so it should fit most seats, and be easy to slip off and on. Rows 1 to 7 work in the round, and rows 8-10 work back an forth by turning work over.
This pattern uses US terms and the stitches used are double crochet (abbreviated as dc) treble crochet (tr) and chain stitch (ch)
the UK conversions are dc = tr, tr = dtr, and ch stays the same.
I have used three different colours of 8ply yarn and a 4mm hook. Colour 1 is apple green, colour 2 is bright orange and colour 3 is magenta.
you will also need approx 30 cm length of elastic.

4ch, 1dc, 1ch into first chain space
1 dc, 1ch, 1dc, 1ch into next chain space
1dc, 1ch into next 13 spaces
1dc, 1 ch, 1dc, 1ch into each of the next 3 chain spaces
1dc, 1ch into next 12 spaces
1dc, 1 ch, 1dc, 1ch into each of the next 3 chain spaces
1dc, 1ch into next 13 spaces
1dc, 1ch, 1dc 1ch into last space, slip stitch into 3rd chain from start.
round 7: 5ch, 1tr, 1ch into each chain space. slip stich 4th chain from start. (59 stitches) fasten off
round 8-10 front of seat: (using same colour as previous row) start 3rd space left of centre bottom (see photo 3)

5ch into space, 1 tr 1ch into next 6 spaces, turn work over
5ch, 1tr, 1ch into next 5 spaces, turn work over,
5ch, 1tr 1ch into next 4 spaces, fasten off
round 8 back of seat: skip 16 chain spaces from where the front of the seat ends (row 8: see photo 4)

5ch, 1tr 1ch into next 19 chain space, 5ch and slip stitch into next chain space.
to make up, weave the elastic through row 7, and into rows 8-10, so the elastic joins all around the base. tie off elastic, and place on seat!
