Do you ever see a project or a picture and know you just HAVE to make that as soon as possible?
Of course you have. You’re all crafters which is why you’re here reading this blog and these posts. The other day I was reading the readers tutorials and saw this one. I knew the moment I saw that dress that I just had to make one like it for this summer. Something I can wear and enjoy through summer and then throw a pair of leggings under to get me through winter. I love to wear knee length dresses with leggings. It’s only the second month of spring and already we’re starting to feel the heat. I know it’s going to be a hot summer and some nice light dresses with pretty fabrics will just make everything perfect. I also love the fact there are sleeves on this one as much as I love strappy dresses but they are WAY too easy to burn in. I already seem to burn all the time at the moment as I’m not out in the sun enough.
So since I had to take my car in to replace two of the tyres I took a walk down to the fabric shop and picked up some gorgeous rayons to use. I have enough to either make two dresses for myself or one for myself and one for the little girl and maybe a skirt for me. I finished all the shorts I had going. I made 3 pairs for the boy and 4 for the girl and since they are back at school next week they won’t need as many clothes and I’m off the hook for desperate clothes for them until Christmas holidays. It’s all about sewing for me I don’t do that often enough at the moment though I thoroughly enjoy using the kids as manikins 😀
The black and white fabric is particularly for me as I absolutely fell in love with that design. It just called to me. There were so many other pretty fabrics and I just absolutely loved it.
My birthday is next Thursday and I would love to have one of these finished for me by then but I don’t think that is going to happen. I will see how quickly I can manage it. We’re going camping this weekend and after that I will have time to think and create clothes for myself. I am so excited to make. I am jumping up and down.
I’m going to go pack before I start measuring and cutting fabric right here and now! I’m excited to share this one with you as it progresses and hopefully it won’t be long before I can have a happy dance.
Happy Stitching,
Caitlin
