fitting craft into my day

At 33 weeks pregnant, fitting craft into my day isn’t a huge priority at the moment, something that irks me, because I want to make so much for bubba! But I know that will change over the next year or so, so I go with it for now. (I also remind myself that taking time to browse pinterest and write blog posts is part of my creating, not just the actual sewing bit.)

My Tuesday starts with getting kids up at 7am. They’re big enough to organise lunch boxes and bags, so I eat breakfast, shower, get dressed, and hop on facebook.

8am - drive the kids to school. This isn’t normal, they usually walk, but it was raining this morning.

8.30am - Time to check my blood glucose levels, then head out for a meeting

9am - Tuesday is usually playgroup day, but Blog Power Events had some stuff to organise, so I used having my mum here as a chance to not have Riley hanging around for the meeting.

11.30am - home from meeting, time to feed the boy. And I realised just how hungry I was, too!

12.30pm - decide I have to bake something for afternoon tea (and lunch boxes) Which means searching through this box of recipes, because I “have” to make fudgy chocolate slice.

1pm - found the recipe (not in the box), whip the slice up, decide what’s for dinner, print pattern for making burp cloths

1.30pm - decide to sort all baby’s clothes and stack neatly in the drawer. I’m really after a baby hat to use as a pattern, but of the four I bought I can’t find any! (Eventually found already sitting with the fabric on the kitchen table!)

2pm - cut out 3 hats, ready for sewing (only another 15 to go)

3pm - time for a cup of tea, and writing some blog posts (which always seems to involve pinterest and facebook)

4pm - pick up niece and nephew from after-school care. Settle in front of the tv with mum to watch the second half of Trial and Retribution from yesterday

5pm - time to start prepping dinner, tonight it’s tuna pasta bake, a hit or miss dish with the kids (sometimes they have seconds, sometimes they throw it in the bin)

6pm - wave mum and sister off to the airport (mum was here 10 days, sister for 4), time to eat dinner. Then make sandwiches, cause tonight is one of those miss nights.

7pm - watching Home and Away. Usually husband watches and I potter on the computer, but he’s away with the truck this week, so I’ll watch it for him.

7.30pm - kids shower, get pj’d and hop into bed with iGadgets.

8pm - last blood sugar test for the day. Time for supper (tonight it’s tea and crumpets)

9pm - Riley is snuggling up on my lap. “Can I go to sleep, mum?” he says, that’s my cue to hop into bed with him (we co-sleep), I read my book, he’s asleep in less than a minute.

10pm - I wake up with my iPad in my hand, a sure sign I fell asleep reading. Time to roll over and go to sleep.

  1. LOL - Tuna pasta bake is the same with my kids. They’ll love it and you think “yes!” and then next time, they turn their noses up at it.
