A few years ago I decided to make Christmas ornaments for every member of our family. I have 3 siblings and my husband has 3 as well so with parents, siblings and children this meant I created over 20 ornaments. Each one was cross stitched on Aida cloth in a rubber hoop with felt on the back. They took ages but I was really happy with them. As new members joined our extended family by marriage or birth, I created some extra ones. Last year I should have created two for my new twin nephews but unfortunately time got away from me and they didn’t get done. When Amy started talking about Christmas in July here at And Sew We Craft, I knew this was the project I needed to show you.
I would love to show a finished pair of ornaments for these two boys, but they are still “in progress”. (Hey, at least they are started now!) Much nicer are these finished ones from our tree last year.

The patterns are from a really old cross stitch book but here is a similar one I found over on Amazon:
The hoops I found in Spotlight. They are about 12cm across with a rubber edging that rolls off to insert the fabric. I used DMC stranded threads and white felt on the back. I just attached the felt with a glue gun after I finished stitching.

I used to paint Christmas prime, enjoyed it very much and gave them as presents
lovely idea and what a fabulous way to welcome new family members with an ornament!
