Where We Craft: Sew Delicious

Where We Craft

Today we have Ros from Sew Delicious sharing her sewing space for Where We Craft!

Sew Delicious sewing desk area

My space is in the corner of our dining room. We don’t have a large house or a study so I don’t have my own room, but I quite like being part of a communal area so I can keep my eye on the kids or chat to my husband while I’m sewing.

Sew Delicious sewing shelves

I have an Ikea Expedit shelving and desk unit, which allows me to keep my machines set up and ready to go, but also allows quite a bit of storage. I try to keep my fabric folded up and tidy but it’s hard when I’m always searching through it looking for the perfect thing for a particular project! Usually once I’ve finished something I like to have a huge tidy up so I can start fresh with the next project.

Sew Delicious sewing peg board

My father-in-law built me a custom made peg board where I like to hang my most used tools, but also lots of pretty items like some of my vintage sewing notions and my washi tape collection. It’s great to be able to look up and see lots of my favourite things right there displayed in my workspace.

And the dream? I would love to have a dedicated cutting table that was elevated, but I just don’t have the space. The dining room table is a good alternative for now!

  7. First off I want to say great blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not mind.
I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your mind prior to writing.
I’ve had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting
my ideas out there. I do take pleasure in writing but it
just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted simply just
trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or
    hints? Many thanks!
