7 Recyclable Items Perfect For Your Kid’s Craft Box

recycle

Every other day my kids are desperate to do some craft. They don’t care what they make, they just like to glue and sticky tape things together.

Our craft box is always full, and never costs me a cent. But how?! Recyclables.

Here are 7 things I never put in the recycling, and always keep in the craft box.

  1. Cereal boxes. Great for all manner of things. They’re usually a nice hard-ish cardboard too which is excellent.
  2. Toilet Rolls. The king of kids craft items, these babies are great to make feet on cardboard box animals, towers, people… plant of things!
  3. Old magazines. These are great for kids to cut out big letters from for posters, as well as different pictures for their art. I think gardening magazines are one of the best types!
  4. Catalogues. Well, maybe I don’t keep ALL of these, but I keep a few. Perfect for the same thing as what I mentioned above, and a great jumping off point to talk about healthy eating as well.
  5. My craft scraps. Pieces of scrapbooking paper, and embellishments that I won’t use, as well as the remaining few letters on the letter sticker pack - all these make great collage materials for kids, and “decorations” for their creative ideas.
  6. Wrapping paper. This is great if kids want to cover a big surface, or to cut out and use for collage.
  7. Boxes. If we buy something new, the box it comes in always goes in to our collage box. It is so handy to have a variety of sizes, so nothing is too big or too small!

  1. Labels on the steel cans do not have to be removed since they are burned off during the melting process.
