Where We Craft: Samelia’s Mum

Where We Craft

Today we have Anorina from Samelia’s Mum sharing her brand, spanking new sewing room for Where We Craft!

Would it be wrong to say that when we chose the design of our new house, the sewing studio was one of my major deciding factors?

I’m very lucky to have a large sewing space. On the design plans, it’s actually a media room, but in when we sat down with our builder, I asked for more windows to be installed so that this room has lot’s of lovely northern light. When we moved in, boxes and furniture was placed in here haphazardly but over the weekend, hubby and I have now re-arranged it so that it’s “just right”.

Where we create 1

Looking into the room from the doors (yes, I have double doors), is my sewing table under a window. My sewing machine came back home on Friday after being serviced for 3 weeks. I have my old design board up on one wall and I will buy another large canvas to wrap in batting and place just below this one. The wall right above my sewing machine will be where I hang all of my mini quilts… the ones I’ve made for myself and the ones I’ve received in swaps from partners all over the world. I just need to pop into my local hardware store to buy those little sticky velcro things by 3M.

Walking into the room and looking to the left is where I have my quilting frame set up. The back wall is where hubby has hung a rod with clips. This is where I’ve hung a large piece of batting to use as a design wall. It will also double as a space to hang quilts when I need to photograph them.

Where we Create 3

Looking back towards the other wall, I have shelves to hold my fabric stash as well as books and magazines. All of the windows looks out to the deck, back yard and the trampoline - which means I can be here in my sewing room while still keeping an eye on the kids.

I love, love, LOVE my sewing studio and enjoy spending time in here!

I'm a mum of 2 little ones and wife to a very patient man. I love to blog, quilt and craft. Sometimes I even like to cook, clean and bake... but that mood disappears almost as suddenly as it arrrives. Look out for my designs in Australian publications.
