February was birthday month in our family and ends with 4 in a row the last being my son who turned 2 last weekend. So while I was planning a Planes & Trains birthday party for him during the week I also offered to make the cake for our family dinner to celebrate our combined birthdays. For those that don’t know I also have a 6 week old baby so I needed something quick and easy but wanted something that looked and tasted great.
Enter the “Kit Kat cake”. I figured it shouldn’t take me too long and I’d heard my father in law loved Kit Kats so I was sure to win brownie points with him and my son. It was an absolute hit with the little kids and the big ones!
To make it I used about 1 and a half bags of the fun size Kit Kats, 1 bag of M&M’s and a cake (I confess I used a packet mix here).
I have now decided this is my go to cake for birthdays as it was so easy to make. I’ve also created a Pinterest board for inspiration. Someone suggested using freckles on top and I reckon this will be my next one.
I’ll be back here next month and hope to be back behind the sewing machine by then.
