Back in February I signed up for Kid Giddy’s Gnome Swap and then spent about 2 months deciding what I wanted to make for my partner and trying to hunt down ‘gnome’ themed stationary etc. But budget has been pretty tight and postage on all the gnome themed fabric was ridiculous and stationary was hard to come by so I settled for a cute gnome themed cookie cutter, some stickers, washi tape, a pack of moustache sticky notes and some fat quarters from my stash and then got to work on a mini and an open wide zipper pouch.
The zipper pouch is pretty big, I forgot to measure it when finished, but I used a 16″ zipper to give you an idea on the size. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut a gnome silhouette on freezer paper and then mixed pink fabric paint with white fabric paint to have three different colours gnomes, kind of ombre gnomes if you will. I used a grey kona solid and some gorgeous Cotton and Steel fabric for the pouch. It’s just lined with a white solid. I did make a few boo boo’s on the pouch, but they shouldn’t affect the use of the pouch and I hope it’s big enough to store some WIP’s etc.
The mini has a paper pieced gnome and mushroom, and if you’ve been around these parts for a while you would know that I am petrified of paper piecing! So I was pretty happy with that accomplishment. Again, it’s not perfect, but I hope it’s loved all the same.
It’s been a long time between swaps for me, but I really enjoyed making this gift and I’m pleased to say that I’m currently signed up for two more swaps and am having fun figuring out what I should make for my partners.
Do you participate in swaps?
