Here in Japan, summer holidays are from mid-July to the end of August, so about 6 weeks all up. It can be hard for me, not gonna lie, being used to having both kids at Japanese preschool from 8-2:30 and the fact that I work from home. This year, I’m getting prepared early by planning a few different activities and projects NOW, and with only a few cheap supplies, getting the kids scrapbooking is a great way to document their summer!
It all started when I was checking out Scrapbook.com to see if they had a couple of paper pads I was interested in, and an idea popped into my head - if I want to have any possibility of the time to do any scrapbooking over the summer, I need to get the kids involved! So, they helped choose a 6×6 paper pad each, and chose what colour album (also 6×6 so that it’s easy for them to just use one piece of paper as it is), and I added a few chipboard and cardstock stickers of things they like and alphas in coordinating colours.
My daughter of course chose the princess-ey one - Enchanted from Simple Stories. To go with that, I also got the chipboard stickers from the collection too, and a few other pretty bits and pieces.
My son went with the Boys Rule paper pad from Crate Paper, and I also selected some stickers that are all about what he is currently obsessed with loves! Must admit to being a bit disappointed with the Teen Boy Doodlebug Designs sticker pack. Barely anything decent on the sheets, so I’ll probably pick up something locally to add to his stash.
And what are we going to do with them? Do little pages about themselves and what they like and are doing this summer, etc. I’m excited to see what we create!
