My Craft Space - Caitlin

This month, we’ve been asked to share our craft spaces and I know I talked a bit about my craft space the other week. It wasn’t easy to access some items and other stuff was spread from one section of the house to another. There was a drawer system in my bedroom. scrapbooking drawers in the linen cupboard and sewing supplies spread between the linen cupboard and the cupboard under the stairs. Henceforth known as the ‘potterbox’. Then my cross stitch and current projects were strewn all over the couch and kitchen table.

Well at least that is what it was. I talked about The Science of Procrastination the other week and went through some of my goals. One of them was to organise and sort my craft stuff into place. I spent last week sick and pathetic and I don’t know why exactly, but I had the urge to start cleaning. I pulled everything out of the potterbox, it’s quite a big area, and sorted it all out. Some of the boxes had only one item in them. Some could be combined and suddenly I had a lot of room to fit all my craft gear. I can easily grab all that I need.

So in one afternoon I went from having no space to having just ONE area. It is nice to be able to put things away without having to walk upstairs. I actually sat and crafted and pulled everything out and out everything away. I have a comfy nook in the corner for sitting and crafting and then everything gets put away each day… at least most of the stuff. My cross stitch usually stays out but that hasn’t changed. This corner doesn’t look neat but it is… and I can tell you where everything is and what projects are in there. I can also put my hands on anything within a minute. That is always great.

I do love the corner of the couch… it is so comfortable to curl up in… through I realise that I need to make myself a nice cushion. It’s bad that my cushions are just pillows from a bed I can do so much better than that!

Anyway I hope you enjoyed this look at my craft space. I do hope that one day I get myself a craft room all my own… but that may be down the road a bit…

Happy Stitching,

Caitlin

My mother taught me to crochet when I was 9 and I was hooked. Since then I do any craft that tickles my fancy which at the moment includes cross stitch, knitting, crochet, quilting and sewing toys and clothes. I like to always have something to do.
