Making mistakes your own

There are times that you are making projects and you make a mistake. Sometimes the mistake is so far back that to fix it would be stupid. Sometimes you just can’t.

Last year I sewed a hippo soft toy and where I sewed it together it started to pull apart. I had spent hours sewing this toy together and I was really upset. Until I thought about how to make it mine. I put together a felt flower and sewed it over the fabric and made it my own.

Today I found out that the crochet blanket I’ve been working on for 2 years is going all ruffly around the edges and I needed to work out how to fix it. I wasn’t going to undo it way too much work! So instead I did some digging and asking and I’ve worked out how to add a ruffly hem to make it even more prominent. Instead of being bad it will be a feature.

So how have you recovered a project? I want to know about what you have made that went wrong… and then how did you fix it and make it your own?

Happy Stitching,

I look forward to hearing from you!

My mother taught me to crochet when I was 9 and I was hooked. Since then I do any craft that tickles my fancy which at the moment includes cross stitch, knitting, crochet, quilting and sewing toys and clothes. I like to always have something to do.

  1. I’m always making mistakes, but I think it’s the best way to learn!

I seen your crochet blanket on Insta and I think it’s gorgeous. Would blocking it help?
