I was hoping to write this hoop art tutorial as a 20 minute crafter post, but alas it took a little longer than 20 minutes, not much longer though. So if you are looking for a quick project to satisfy your crafting urges that this perfect.
For this project you will need:
- Print fabric for letter
- Plain fabric for background
- Embroidery Hoop
- Basting Spray
- Embroidery Thread
- Needle
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Stencil for letter (optional- you could draw free hand)
How to:
Either trace your stencil or draw your letter free hand onto your printed fabric.
Cut out letter and then place plain fabric on hoop. Make sure to stretch it out smoothly.
Use your spray adhesive and give your letter a quick spray on the back. Then place onto your fabric on the hoop. Don’t worry if you don’t get the placement right the first time, the spray adhesive allows you to re-postion if needed.
Now it’s time to stitch this letter down. For this piece I chose to use a running stitch to stitch it down. It is a speedy little stitch, but you could also use a blanket stitch or a back stitch too.
Now simply trim the excess fabric
and it’s ready to hang.

This is lovely. I think I need to find some hoops and make them to match both my little ones rooms. A job for my holidays coming up.
