2015 ASWC Crochet Along

It’s starting to cool off a bit here in Australia (that might also be my wishful thinking…) so what better time than to kick off a new crochet along.

I’ve had a circle rug in my head for a long time so thought now was a good a time as any to start one.

I am using this pattern from Lion Brand: Stratford Circle Afghan

Now the colours in that pattern aren’t my cup of tea and I had trouble finding any 12 ply yarn that I liked so I’m going with 8ply(DK) in these colours:

Yes, I am also planning on using more colours than the pattern states. The pattern is just a guide so this little beginner crocheter can get her head around a circle blanket.

So who wants to play along?

If you are new to crochet here are some posts that might help:

And this free guide from Craftsy might be helpful too

I have no time frame for this crochet along, it’s a no stress type thing. Just do as much as you can when you can. But I will be checking in with you all every week to keep accountable and to share progress. Depending on how many of us play along I might set up a linky to share everyone’s progress. If not everyone can just link up in the comments section. If you do share links I will do a round up once a month of everyones blankets (rugs/afghans, whatever terminology you like to use).

So I’ll meet you back here in two weeks so we can get started.

Will you join in?

  1. Good luck with your blanket. I have too many half finished things to join you but shall look forward to reading how you get on!
(You can get Stylecraft Special in chunky/12 ply if you want to stick to the pattern as written and save yourself lots of extra rounds http://www.deramores.com/stylecraft-special-chunky )

    • Thanks Jodie, I think I’m going to stick with my 8 ply. I think I’m okay with not sticking to the pattern. Although 12ply would work up a lot faster!
