December Daily 2015: Days 6 - 11

The December Daily fun continues! May I just say, that if you lower your expectations of yourself to something much more realistic, it’s so much more fun?! I planned on doing batch documenting of December, and I have, and it’s awesome not stressing about it! I know, I know, broken record… but it’s true!

Day 6 = Christmas tree day! We downsized this year, or more accurately, we gave away our big tree so we used our little tree from Daiso and pinned the lights to the wall instead, haha! And we’ve got out our Advent calendar up too - wouldn’t be Christmas without it!

Day 6 also brings the first shaker pocket, something I love including in my December Daily albums! I also made my first filler card for the month too, using some Studio Calico stickers, alphas and little word stickers from MME, Daiso rhinestones, and washi tape. All on some paper from the One Little Bird mini kit!

For Day 7, I documented the first day of our mini trip to Mt Fuji, including a beautiful photo of Lake Kawaguchiko with some journalling tucked behind it. I used two 4×4 papers from Studio Calico to make up a 4×6 card for the bottom photo (the view from my automatic massage chair at the hotel!).

Day 8 was the second day of our trip, and I just used a couple of family photos we took in front of the hotel with Mt Fuji in the background. I love the doily and Elle’s Studio tag and rhinestone embellishing! I used some Ali Edwards stamps on the tag, and kept it at that. I also cracked open a packet of Becky Higgins photo transparencies for the bottom photo - the heart is just perfect! And it helps distract the eye from the car yard next to us…

Here’s what that spread looks like together:

Day 9 is a double spread - something I’m obviously not doing every day, because I’m not trying to make more stories out of what isn’t there just for the sake of filling up space! Short and sweet is my motto, because that’s manageable.

December Daily 15 day 9

A quiet home day with some hot chocolate, Advent activities, and spontaneous letters to Santa. I made another filler card, using some scrap cards from the stash, and stamped on vellum. Nervously, because that’s some slippery stuff, yo! But it worked first time, yay!

For Day 10 and 11, they’re two separate stories but both about the kids’ Christmas plays and concert at their yochien/kindergarten/preschool, so it all merges a bit.

Day 10 is just the left page:

Day 11 starts with a 4×6 page protector trimmed down to 4×4 with a gold Ikea tag cut in half and both parts stapled back-to-back to add on the edge! That way, it looks like a tag “properly”, instead of ‘inverted’.

And the second page includes the first Christmas card of the year… yeah, chopped up instead of being put on display. I’m just like that. Well, that and there’s nowhere to put them this year because the table that the tree is on is where they’d normally go!

I’ve worked some more on the next few days, but that’s enough for this post!
