Experiments With Block Printing

Last month I headed to QuiltCon in LA. It was an absolutely amazing time - the weather was just divine, the show was inspiring, the vendors were enticing, and the friends I met and made were incredible! I took one class - Block Printing with Valori Wells. It was a such a blast! Valori was a fantastic teacher - well-explained, friendly, helpful, and interactive.

I had so much fun coming up with some designs, and I’m itching to try it again one day! You can read more about the actual process at Blossom Heart Quilts, but I just had to share my designs here too. This was the first design I made, and I’m thrilled with how it turned out! Normally I’m a clean=lines and orderly kinda gal, but I actually quite like the texture in the negative space between the ink.

I had also wanted to play around with a round shape, and this dotty print Valori provided was the perfect fabric to use for it! I was able to make 3 various sizes of circle blocks, which were nice and quick to print out.

And this last one used a different ink, which made for a much more textured look than I was hoping for, but I still love it. I’d really love to try this one another time to get a cleaner, more straight design.
