fabric-covered sewing machine cover

When I saw these fabric covered suitcases from A Beautiful Mess, I just knew I had to have a go. I’ve been driving my husband crazy trying to buy vintage suitcases on eBay (and not having much luck), and thinking of all the things around me that would be perfect covered in fabric. I knew when I bought my Janome home that I had to cover it!

There aren’t many tutorials on covering-stuff-with-fabric, so I did a bit of research about decoupage to work out the best way to do it. I decided to use a watered-down mix of PVA (white craft glue - about a 50/50 mix), instead of Mod Podge, and sanded the cover first to knock the shine off (it’s actually been sanded and cleaned for about three weeks.)

Do you cover anything in fabric? Anything odder than a sewing-machine-cover?

It looks great Cate! I haven’t covered anything in fabric, but I did want to cover Cadens bedside table in fabric but hubby vetoed it. He told me my idea was silly. I will show him the error of his ways one day!
