Arts & Crafts In Israel :: Tel Aviv Markets

Earlier in the week we went North West to the coast to visit Tel Aviv. Tel Aviv has a reputation of being a bit bohemian, a bit creative, and a bit liberal. There were certainly a real variety of people, and from what we saw, a big punk scene!

Anyway, we strolled through the Tel Aviv markets, and saw some really beautiful handmade pieces. I actually regret not buying a few things. Don’t you hate that?! Better to buy something you like when you see it and you can always give it away as a gift if you change your mind. If you regret not buying it, then you’ve just missed out!!

These artworks (above) were mixed media. The artist painted on top of various textures and layers of recycled paper. What a neat idea!

This guy made some really cool toys and art pieces using free motion quilting. As you know, I’m a bit of a fan of FMQ, and I would love to try something like this at home!

The two photo above are from a stall where the artist recycled packets of food etc. to create bags, wallets, purses, etc. Very neat idea. If there were one with some more hebrew writing on it I would have definitely got one!

The two photos above are of some beautiful handmade and hand painted wooden dreidels and spinning tops. So cute!

Before we left for overseas I was really keen to do some clay work. These designs are really simple and fun. :)

And last buy not least, this guy was making some VERY cool pieces out of twisted metal and cutlery!
