creative goals for 2015

When Amy asked yesterday if any of the contributors had plans to write about their creative goals for the New Year, I realised that I had a vague let’s-plan-to-create notion, but no clear plans.

image1I looked around my craft room, and shuffled papers, and thought to myself “what on earth am I going to create?”

I still have the quilting and binding to finish on the triangle quilt for Sophie.

And I never did do that watercolour class that I really want to work through.

And my project life album is at a stand still with all my photos and journalling for 2014 stuck inside the Collect app [note to self - export photos monthly!]

I’d like to get back to small creative projects every week.

I’d like to get over my fear of creating without purpose.

I’d like to learn new skills.

I am going to scrapbook more - a One Little Word album; and maybe a project “my life” type album, inspired by Kellie Winnell; and more pages in my much-neglected albums.

I am going to sew more - I’d like to finish all the work-in-progress piles I have.

And I’m going to do it all while juggling life and children!

Do you have creative goals for 2015?

She doesn't do housework, wastes too much time on facebook and pinterest, and is overwhelmed by the awesome blogs in her google reader. She loves taking online scrapping classes, learning about the scout movement (as a Joey/Cub leader), and has a purple front door. 2013 is all about CHOOSING the right path.

  1. great goals, Cate. I’d just like to create more regualry too. The last few months have seen me only doing crafty things sparinly and my moods have suffered. I need to carve out some time for me and that pretty much always involves some kind of crafting.

I’m going back to actually writing down what I want to achieve and making it happen rather than just hoping that I get the time.

So far I have some pretty simple goals for 2015. I want to quit buying things just because they are on sale. I want to buy less but love each piece more. Same for fabric (eek). I want to make the Pioneer Woman’s cinnamon rolls and pass them out to friends. I want to unsubscribe to all of those annoying store emails that I just usually click and hit delete. I want to go through my house and get rid of things that aren’t personal to my family or necessary. Finally, I want to sew because it’s fun or because of the look the recipient’s face when I give it to them. Last year I got caught up in making some things that weren’t as fun. Finally, I want to be “better.”

  3. My creative goals for 2015 mostly include focusing. I’m keeping a notebook to plan out when I want to start/finish and work on projects and instead of buying fabric on a whim for a newly imagined project I’ll have a place to document ideas to prevent the pile of UFOs from growing any larger! Excuse any typos, I can hardly read this lovely scripty writing in the comment form :/
