{Tutorial} Disappearing 9 Patch Table Runner #LittleHouseMoment

IMG_6013

What you need (will be enough to make two runners) :

  • 5 x Little House on The Prairie Fat Quarters
  • Black solid fabric for binding
  • Co-ordinating fabric for backing
  • Batting

nb: Sorry I don’t have exact measurements for the black solid, backing fabric or batting. I was rushing to get these finished for a postal deadline.

What to do:

Please note that I am assuming that you have basic quilting knowledge and know how to baste, quilt and bind a quilt. I did intend to write a full tutorial for this but time wasn’t on my side as I was trying to get these table runners finished for Christmas gifts.

Cut 5×5 inch squares from your fat quarters. You need 72 squares for 2 runners or 36 for one.

Place out your 9 patch blocks in rows of 3×3 and arrange the fabrics so that no two prints are near each other. Then sew your blocks together in strips. Once you have sewn your 9 patch, press your seams if you haven’t already and then cut them into quarters. (see picture below)

Re-arrange the blocks to create the ‘disappearing effect’ (see picture below)

Sew together

Then join 4 together to make your table runner

Then it’s time to baste, quilt and bind. And ta da! You’re done.

Sorry again for not having the full instructions on how to baste, bind or quilt.

If you need any help then please don’t hestiate to ask.
