A few weeks ago I finished my first project for 2016. It was a lap quilt for my Granny’s 76th birthday. I finished it on the 8th and her birthday is the 14th so all I can say is thank god for express post satchels because she lives on the other side of the country!
It arrived just in time for her birthday and I hope it comes in useful in the few months time for winter. It would simply be too hot for her to use it now.
The fabric in this quilt was a jelly roll of Lulu by Chez Moi for Moda and a blue spot fabric from my stash for the binding. It was just backed in a light blue solid as my backing fabric options are limited at the moment. I’m hoping to fix that problem soon though 😉
To piece the top I simply sewed the jelly roll strips in sets of 4 then cut them down to 8 inch squares then joined the rows in an alternate pattern.
The finished quilt measures approximately 44 inches by 59 inches.
What was your first finish for 2016?
