Project Life Baby Album :: Setting Yourself Up For Success
Hello again, and welcome to another weekly scrapbooking instalment here at And Sew We Craft! I’ve been busy prepping a video to share with you about the way I organise my photos to get printed and manage my project life baby album, but in the mean time I wanted to share with you some things you might like to consider if you’re going to start a project like this yourself.
Think of this as a bit of a checklist - if you’ve thought about and made a decision about each of these things then you’ll have a successful Project Life album!
- Audience - Who is this album for? This will help you decide what photos you will include, what stories you’ll tell, and who you will address the journalling to. Is it for yourself (you might address the journalling as if you are the main/only person who will read it)? Is it for the child it’s about (the journalling may be from you to your child)? Is it a family album (you will probably make the journalling mostly factual, or in third person, and perhaps you will specify that it is written by you if you share something sentimental)?
- Format - How do you want to set your album up? Do you want it to be chronological or in any order? Do you want it to be organised with a double page or single page spread per week/month etc., or do you want to make it continuous and just flow onto new pages as the photos take you?
- Organisation - Also, your organisation will differ based on what format you chose above. You will want to consider how you are going to organise your photos on your computer, and how you will organise them once you’re printed. Also, how you will organise them IN the album.
- Dates - Do you want to record exact dates or general dates (for example 13-02-2012, or just Feb 2012)?
- Theming - Do you want your whole album to be a consistent theme (either a particular colour card stock as the main colour in the layouts, or a particular scrapbooking collection. Perhaps you just want to use a general colour scheme like pastels, or mostly blues. Or perhaps you just want one single or double page spread to be themed and it’s not important that each page of the album works together)?
This isn’t a definitive list - perhaps there are things you find are helpful to consider at the start of a major scrapbooking project. If so, please share them below!
