Walk In The Woods Quilt

005

This quilt has taken a long time to finish, and not because it was difficult…

It was actually started back in 2012 when I was still living in QLD, it got pieced into strips but then had to be placed into a box to be boxed across the country and that it when the layout got messed up.

Then it was finally pieced in the first half of 2013 and I had great intentions to quilt it and get it finished not long after I finished the top, but every time I looked at it my shoulders ached and I got nervous.

I was afraid to quilt it on my little machine, even though I have an extension table, it was still making me nervous. It big, and bulky and I wasn’t sure if I could manoeuvre it through my machine and still have some nice quilting to finish it off.002

Well I finished it recently for my daughters 6th birthday, the quilting isn’t perfect, but it is done and it actually isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I learnt a bit along the way too and that’s a good thing!

Now to finish those three other quilt tops that are waiting to be quilted and the numerous other quilt tops that are in various stages of piecing…048

Do you quilt on a standard sewing machine?

Oh Amy it is beautiful. I used this fabric to make a quilt a few years ago for a charity donation. So pretty!

I think you have a lovely finish. I do quilt 98% of my quilts on my home (Pfaff) machine. I think the throat space is 9″.
