Is anyone up to the stage of finishing their quilt yet?
I’m almost up to the stage of finishing my quilt top, morning sickness did throw a spanner in the works though.
But I’ve had this plan in my head for months and it hasn’t waivered at all.
I tried to get a big picture of the quilt all laid out, but pets or kids always messed it up. So here is a small snippet that I managed to snap while some of it was laid out on my dining table.
I’m going with a plan of scrappy sashing made up of 2.5 inch squares and then a white outside border. And I’m doing sort of the same thing with my solid version but using 2.5inch grey sashing with scrappy cornerstones.
I’m hoping to get it all sewn up early next week after the kids all go back to school.
How are you going with your modernqal quilt?

Great minds think alike, this is exactly what I’d been thinking about doing for the sashing!

Just need to work out if I have enough for the number of squares it would need, otherwise I’ll have to just do it as a boarder around the edge.
The boxes have finally arrived after our big move, so at least I’ll be able to finish the same time as everyone else

My top is finished. Posted pictures on instagram. I completed 8 additional blocks to increase the top size and bordered half the blocks with yellow and the other half with white.

I cut several squares of background and spend a few days trying different layouts. It was really fun. They all worked in their own way. The final decision was a layout my daughter came up with and I liked it instantly. No sashing for me as well. This made it about a throw size. Thank you, Amy, for the QAL, and best of luck with baby # four.
Thanks Sue! Glad thank you for taking part in the qal x
